Can dogs drink milk?
Some dogs can tolerate small amounts of milk, but others may experience digestive upset especially with cows’ milk.
Cows’ milk contains lactose, a natural sugar that needs to be broken down by an enzyme called lactase. Some dogs don’t produce enough of this enzyme to digest lactose comfortably, which can result in symptoms such as gas, loose stools or diarrhoea.
Fresh drinking water should always be available, and milk should never replace your dog’s usual food or water.
Is goats’ milk good for dogs?
Goats’ milk is a popular option among pet owners looking for an alternative to ordinary cows’ milk.
Unlike regular cows’ milk, which can be difficult for dogs to digest, goats’ milk has been trusted by breeders for generations as a valuable addition to a dog’s diet. Nutritionally, the fat globules found in goats’ milk are typically smaller than those found in other animal milks, making them easier to ‘break down’ and digest in the gut.
TopLife milk for dogs and milk for puppies is made with goats’ milk and includes prebiotics, glucosamine, chondroitin and green tea extract. It’s designed as an optional addition to your dog’s routine, rather than a replacement for their normal diet.
Can puppies drink milk?

Puppies have different nutritional needs as they grow and gradually transition from their mother’s milk to solid food. During their early weeks, puppies should receive their mother’s milk or an appropriate puppy milk replacer if needed.
Once puppies are over 6 weeks old, TopLife Puppy Milk can be introduced as an additional treat alongside a suitable, balanced puppy diet. Made with goats’ milk and carefully selected ingredients including vitamins c & e to support their immune system, it’s a tasty way to add a little variety to your puppy’s routine.
As with any new addition to your puppy’s diet, introduce it gradually and follow the feeding guidance on the packaging. If you’re caring for a very young or underweight puppy, or have any concerns about their nutritional needs, speak to your vet.
How can you serve dog milk?
If your dog enjoys milk and tolerates it well, there are several ways to offer a pet-specific product.
AS A DRINK: Serve an appropriate portion in a clean bowl.
POURED OVER FOOD: Add a little to your dog’s usual meal for a change of texture and flavour.
FROZEN INTO CUBES, TRAYS AND KONGS: Freeze a suitable product in small portions for an occasional treat, taking care that the size and texture are safe for your dog.
Always follow the product’s storage and feeding instructions, and provide fresh drinking water at all times.
Can dogs have milk every day?
Yes, goats’ milk can be a healthy daily treat, just keep in mind treats should account for no more than 10% of a dog’s daily calorie intake, with the rest coming from a complete and balanced diet.
If your dog has a medical condition or a prescribed diet, check with your vet before adding milk.
Choosing the right milk for your dog

If you’re looking to offer milk as an occasional treat, choose a product developed specifically for dogs rather than assuming ordinary dairy milk is suitable.
TopLife Dog & Puppy Milk uses goats’ milk and includes prebiotics alongside other selected ingredients. It can be served as a drink, poured over food or frozen into cubes, according to the product’s feeding guidance.
Introduce it gradually, particularly if your dog is trying it for the first time.
